Wind in your hair. The sea below. Just the two of you, and a promise.
Kullaberg is one of the most beautiful places in Sweden to elope. Dramatic cliffs drop into the sea, old beech forest opens up to wide views, and the light at sunset turns everything golden. It feels wild and far away. Yet it is easy to reach.
I am Sara, an elopement photographer based in Skåne, and Kullaberg is one of my favourite places to photograph couples. Here is everything you need to know to plan your elopement here.
Why Elope at Kullaberg?
Kullaberg is a nature reserve on a peninsula in the northwest of Skåne, the southernmost region of Sweden. It is where the land ends and the sea takes over.
Couples fall for it because it offers so much in one place:
Steep cliffs and rocky shores right by the water
Quiet forest paths that feel like a fairytale
Open views over the sea, perfect for sunset
The charming fishing villages of Mölle and Arild nearby
Last summer I photographed an elopement at Kullaberg, and I still think about it. There are hiking trails close by, yet standing on those cliffs it felt like the whole world belonged to just the two of them.
How to Get to Kullaberg
Kullaberg is surprisingly easy to reach for international couples. From Copenhagen Airport you can drive here in about two hours, crossing the Öresund Bridge into Sweden. From Helsingborg, it is a short drive along the coast.
This makes Kullaberg a perfect choice if you are flying into Copenhagen, or even if you are getting legally married at Copenhagen City Hall and want to add an intimate ceremony or portrait session in Sweden.
The Best Spots for Your Kullaberg Elopement
The Cliffs by the Sea
The rocky coastline is the heart of Kullaberg. Raw, windswept and unforgettable. This is where you get those wide, epic photos with the sea stretching out behind you.
The Beech Forest
If you want something softer and more intimate, the forest paths are magical. Green and glowing in summer, warm and golden in autumn.
Mölle and Arild
These small coastal villages are perfect for a calm start to the day, a celebratory dinner, or a few relaxed portraits among old houses and harbour views.
When we plan together, I help you choose spots based on your vibe, the weather, the light and how much you want to hike.
Best Time to Elope at Kullaberg
Summer (June to August): Long, light evenings and a warm golden hour that lasts forever. Popular, so I recommend a weekday or a sunrise ceremony for privacy.
Autumn (September to October): My personal favourite. Fewer people, golden forest, moody skies and soft light.
Winter and spring: Quiet, dramatic and wonderfully calm. Bring warm layers and an adventurous heart.
Whatever season you choose, sunrise and sunset give you the most beautiful light and the most privacy.
Can You Get Legally Married in Sweden?
Yes, but as a non resident you need to plan ahead, since there are documents to prepare before the ceremony. Many couples choose one of these options:
A legal ceremony in Sweden with an officiant
Legally marrying at home or in Copenhagen, then a symbolic ceremony at Kullaberg
No ceremony at all, just the two of you, your vows and the sea
I guide you through what fits you best. You can read more in my guide on how to elope in Sweden as a foreigner.
What a Kullaberg Elopement Day Can Look Like
Getting ready slowly in a cosy cottage or hotel by the coast
Reading your vows on the cliffs, with nobody but the wind listening
A walk through the forest, champagne in hand
Golden hour portraits by the sea
Dinner in Mölle as the sun goes down
Your day does not have to follow any rules. That is the beauty of eloping. It is about the two of you, and nothing else.
Why Work With a Local Elopement Photographer?
Knowing Kullaberg makes all the difference. I know where the light falls at different times of the year, which spots stay quiet, and where to go if the wind picks up.
Elopements are where I feel most at home as a photographer. There is a calm in them, a closeness you rarely see on a big wedding day. Without guests to greet or a schedule to follow, all the focus is on the two of you and what you feel for each other. Saying yes with no one watching but each other is one of the most honest things I know. Every word is meant only for the person in front of you. I want you to look back at your photos and feel it all again: the wind, the nerves, the laughter, the way you looked at each other.
I was nominated for European Wedding Photographer 2026, and my work is all about real feelings over perfect poses. Your day should feel like you.
Can you elope at Kullaberg?
Yes. Kullaberg is a nature reserve, and small, respectful ceremonies are a beautiful fit here. Always leave no trace and follow the reserve’s rules.
How far is Kullaberg from Copenhagen?
Under two hours by car from Copenhagen Airport, via the Öresund Bridge.
What is the best time of year to elope in Sweden?
Late spring to early autumn gives the longest days and softest weather. Autumn offers fewer crowds and golden colours.
Can foreigners get married in Sweden?
Yes, but you need to prepare documents in advance. Many couples marry legally at home or in Copenhagen and have a symbolic ceremony in Sweden.
How much does it cost to elope in Sweden?
It depends on photography coverage, officiant, accommodation and travel. Have a look at my elopement packages, or send me a message for a personal quote.
